Bruce County Blues and The Coast 95.5 FM have entered into a special partnership for the next two months that sees the blues society sponsoring the commercial radio station's two hour show Tuesday Night Blues with Rob MacLeod. "It's a natural fit" says BCB member Rick Clarke, "as The Coast FM and Bruce County Blues have been mutually supportive of each other says Day One three years ago." Both the radio station and the blues society mark March 2006 as their birthdays and since then have worked closely together on a number projects including their annual March Month of Blues. This year the station has daily special blues features including Blues Vignettes (small stories on blues history), The Canadian Blues Showcase (featuring Canadian artists), Rob's Top Twenty Blues Countdown and The Morning Blues Draw. All of this activity culminates in a huge birthday party for both the station and the blues society on Saturday March 28 featuring Cheryl Lescom and Tim Woodcock Blues Band. "The Coast FM is a real gem in our community, "says Clarke, "and a key factor in the success we are having promoting the blues in this region." The station provides frequent community announcements promoting BCB events, plays the music of featured artists and provides radio interviews of acts booked. "BetweenBruce County Blues and Rick and Marilyn Blues we have been averaging about 10-12 successful blues shows here each year, " reports Clarke, "and we're confident that our presence will continue to grow." Past performers who have appeared in Kincardine and area include Lucky Peterson, Bobby Rush, Jack de Keyzer, David Rotundo, Shawn Kellerman, Jerome Godboo, Bryan Lee, Keith Hallett, Morgan Davis, Garrett Mason and Scott Holt. "Keepin' the Blues Alive" is obviously the a commitment for Bruce County Blues and with it's partnership with The Coast 95.5 FM, it's a challenge made much easier.
