Al Lerman. Alone and Acoustic.

We all know Al as the band leader of Fathead, the Canadian blues institution but for those that have yet to see Al in an acoustic setting, you’re in for a treat.  He’s billed as Blues and Roots music but plays everything from the classic blues of Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee and Willie Dixon to the Band’s Cripple Creek to Al’s own acoustic version of Jackie Brenston’s Rocket 88 and he throws in a number of classic Fathead hits done in an exciting acoustic fashion. And he does it so well.

While, admittedly, he can’t reach the high notes like John Mays (or yodel to the Band’s Cripple Creek) he brings a unique sound to the stage. He plays his guitar well (left handed like Jimi Hendrix) and puts his harmonica rack to good use on each song.

Be sure to take in Al’s solo gig next time he comes to town. It’ll be well worth it.
