Day 24 - Harmelen, Holland
Jimmy Bowskill Band - European Tour Blog - Jan - Mar 2010
February 5, 2010
This day saw us playing at Cafe Wallies in Harmelen, Holland. I took the wheel to drive there (no small feat as the streets in Den Haag are, well, different….we already started developing a new appreciation for what Steve does).
The club is a smallish pub. The owners were very friendly and treated us very well. However, the amount of people who attended the show was disappointing, to say the least. I counted 10 people. While we sat in the dressing room licking our wounds, Pooch noticed a poster advertising our show on the wall. The date was Sunday the 7th at 4pm, despite that fact that it was two days earlier and 10 pm at night. Well, at least we knew now that it wasn’t our fault that the audience was so sparse.
Regardless, we had a great time playing two sets (as opposed to our usual 40 minutes on this tour). As much as we LOVE touring with Wishbone Ash, it was good to know that we could still do a whole night of music and have a grand ol’ time doing so.
Afterwards, we quickly loaded out and drove back to Den Haag to spend our last hours there before getting the tour back underway. We arrive at the apartment at 2:30am and start packing our bags. We only have two hours to sleep before awaking again and taking on the long drive to Braunau, Austria.
