Remembering Mell Brown who passed away one year ago - March 20, 2009

I've seen Mel Brown many times and each and every one of his performances were exquisite. The most memorable for me was at Reader's in Dunnville. This was such a great room for this type of show.

Mel's health was not the greatest and I remember him having to sit on a stool all night. During the break, he went out to the parking lot to get some fresh air. A few minutes later I went out to give him a promotional calendar I had put together for the site which had a photo of him. As I looked around for him, all I saw was a butt sticking out of the front door of a van! I realized it was him and I hesitantly approached him, not knowing if he was okay or not. Miss Angel, who was sitting in the passenger seat said, "Mel, there's someone here to see you." He quickly jumped up and said, "I'm so sorry. I'm just a big ass! How rude of me to present my rear end to you. I'm just stretching out my back from that lousy stool!" We all got a laugh out of that. I gave him the calendar and showed him his picture. Mel, being such a humble man, kept thanking me for giving him a such a wonderful gift.

Thank you, Mel, for being the person that you were. You are missed and loved by so many people.
